It’s the 9th annual Happyish Holidays.
This year is a little different. There is no live show, in-person or otherwise.
My best friend, Caroline Moss, told me that it was not mentally the right time for me to be also producing a live show.
Pretty much right after that, I had my regularly scheduled mental breakdown, and it was a very good thing I wasn’t trying to put together a live show while I was falling apart.
As many of you know, we say happyish holidays because the holiday season comes with its own stress. For a great many of us, this is actually kind of a difficult time of the year, even if you have a whole, functional family. There is so much pressure to be joyful and grateful and full of happiness and whimsy all season long, or to pretend that the financial and emotional stress is fine.
Doing your best is enough, and sometimes, you can’t meet the season with the most holiday cheer. And that’s more than OK.
