I have been an avid secondhand shopper since I can remember: my antique-booth-having grandparents would drag me along to auctions and tag sales and junk markets and stop in every small town antique store to wheel and deal.
I love Other People’s Things and Dead People’s Things, and things in general, and I like thrifting because I like my spaces to be a museum of Things I Like. Things With A Story.
Being a semi-influencer who also has a lot of anxiety around overconsumption, shopping secondhand also slows me down and puts me on a mission: I can’t just add something to my cart in the middle of a stressful day, I have to peruse and hunt until I find exactly what I’m looking for.
It’s thrilling and rewarding and better for the Earth, so I also get to feel superior and righteous every time I pop into Goodwill!1
